I can also confirm this bug.
I have experimented this bug both on my Athlon XP3500+ with ATI x850
and my old Intel Celeron @ 2.24Ghz with an Intel embedded graphics card.
The initial description of this bug fit very well with my experience.
It is very embarrassing, I can not use any effect in im
I can confirm this: I was going through a powerpoint of my unix class, when it
mentioned the command 'top' I immediately tried it out, and was a bit shocked
at how much cpu power OO was using(!)
I attached a screenshot of Impress and top.
This probably explains why the animations went to slow.

arkatis:
please, read the description. OOo2.3 under Debian Etch does NOT experience
problem, while OOo2.3 under Gutsy DOES.

I have Intel 945 on ntb. And TNT2 on Debian Etch I have mentioned.
So it isn't matter of ATI.

Hi @ all, i agree all of you. It's not very fine because I cant use
OpenOffice Impress to present / build Presentations, but I need it very
much.
I think it can have something to do with my ATI-Graphic (Radeon 7500
Mobility) chip. What do you have for a graphic chip?
But it's strange if I thought
I have exactly the same problem, but the 100% CPU use happens also in
presentations without effect.

You received this bug
I can confirm this exactly same scenario. It seems to be kind of a CPU
leak :)
It becomes useless to present (since the effects come up not working on
this CPU-Intensive scenario, which may be another bug btw) and
impossible to work on it, due to saving times being increased about 100x
or more!

This bug makes Impress quite useless in presentation mode.
