I have a similar experience, with an upgrade to Gutsy Gibbon on my Dell
tower, using an nVidia. Sound worked normally with 7.04, but when I
upgraded to 7.10, it broke. It has not worked once.
- As with OP, I am also in audio group, and user privileges include audio
devices.
