I've upgraded my system to Hardy (kernel 2.6.24-19) and I no longer see
the problem. I think it was an issue with 2.6.22 only.

I have this problem too. I have Leadtek winfast 2000/XP Expert, and when
I unload cx8800 module, the CPU usage is 0%, but when the module is
loaded, CPU usage is 30%. Please fix this.

Hmmm, it seems I've able to resolve my problem unistalling the
propietary nvidia drivers completly from from system, via "restricted
modules" on System -> Admin menu. I now use "nv" one.

ah, and as read on the mandriva bug system, if you use a generic kernel,
a simple "rmmod cx8800" will also solve the problem.
