I tried tracker after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10: ii tracker 0.10.24-1build2 metadata database, indexer and search tool It does not work at all (can't find any search term). Installed recoll and it works great. I'd recommend it to everyone. And yes, it can search for phrases in enclosed quotes. --

This is a huge problem for me. I assumed that searching for "Protocol Header" would indeed only look for protocol-space-header, but all I get are references to only the first search term. Are there any workarounds ? I tried stuff like "Protocol AND header", but it returned much the same results.

Another reason to consider this important is that Beagle, which used to be Ubuntu's standard desktop search tool, has this feature. When Ubuntu switched from Beagle to Tracker, we lost the ability to search for phrases. Thus for Ubuntu, this is a regression. -- Tracker doesn't search for phrase
