I have the same problem with an Ahtec Sense XHL 90 (it is new and the
battery has no problems). It loads fine but when the X should appear the
screen remains black, a LED starts to blink (the same which indicates
that "caps lock" is enabled, I don't know what it means if it blinks)
and I can't get
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
a (helpfull - maybe) hint: my laptop battery is almost dead it does not even
charge itself anymore.
btw, after i updated from 7.10 to 8.04, the problem does not appear anymore :)
it seems that hardy has this bug resolved.

I have started experiencing a similar problem on my ACER TravelMate 4060.
Strange, because it started appearing only a week ago. Only booting with a
power adapter (and battery removed) helps.
Ubuntu 7.10 (up-to-date) freezes on startup with battery in place.
Sometimes the startup process reaches
This is strange. Could you try to boot in safe mode so you can see the
booting process. Maybe you could find an error message.
