I have some new mostly positive findings about the boot failures
concerning my HP ZBook 15, the 1st generation (2013). Importantly, it
has the latest available BIOS installed: L70 Ver. 01.33 . (You may look
at my bug report #1312318 .)
1.) The issue affects also ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS.
2.) The issu
Unfortunately, no improvement. The output of efibootmgr -v is now
BootCurrent:
Timeout: 0 seconds
BootOrder: ,0001,0002
Boot* Notebook Upgrade Bay
BBS(CDROM,,0x0)...
Boot0001* Notebook Hard Drive
BBS(HD,,0x0)
For some reason the Ubuntu entry is not configured as a choice in the
BootOrder. Try running sudo efibootmgr -o 0003 and see if that fixes it
( if not, what does efibootmgr -v show then? ).

Couple of day ago I had a dual-booting configuration: Ubuntu 15.04 MATE +
Windows 7 . Both 64 bit.
I decided to replace Ubuntu 15.04 MATE by Ubuntu 15.10 MATE. I did a clean new

I am 100% sure that Windows was installed in EFI mode, but it doesn't
matter anymore. I chose to go with dual boot which I got working. Thanks
for your effort though :)

Unfortunately the pastebins have been removed by now; I'm unfortunately
stuck trying to make an educated guess for the moment.
Do you also have a "Windows boot manager" entry in your boot options,
besides "ubuntu"? What seems to me is like you've possibly installed
Ubuntu in EFI mode when Windows
