Pidgin developers took the decision to close the bug report from now,
here's the Pidgin developpers answer :
This is working as intended. The idea was that people would learn that
Google Talk uses XMPP. I don't think it's necessarily the best idea,
either, but I don't see much reason to re-visit i

I would like this to be fixed as an "Interface Enhancement" as well.
While it makes sense code-wise to not create a separate plugin just for
GTalk, I think having it automatically switch into Jabber would be a
little confusing for new users. Empathy handles it quite well, as an
example.
