Thanks for your bug report and for your contribution. Since this bug is in Pidgin itself, I've opened a bug in the bug tracking system of Pidgin and I linked this new bug to the launchpad bug. That's always a good solution to find the bug tracking system that the upstream source author uses and to open a new bug on it. Since Pidgin isn't developed by ubuntu itself, this will get pretty better chances to get fixed by the people who works on it.
