Same with me. My music folder is called Music, and now every time
Banshee starts up (I don't even have to play any music) I get a new
folder in my home directory called "$HOME which contains a subdirectory

With me it occurred when upgrading from the previous version.
My music folder is located somewhere else however, on
/media/data-1/music and not in ~/music. I don't know if it's somehow
related to this issue.

For me the subdirectory is called Music", which is also what appears in
the Library field in Preferences (looks like the app is internally
working with a string of the form "$HOME/Music"). Selecting the correct
folder in the Library field in Preferences fixes what appears in this
field, but doesn't
