I see the same behaviour. Last known working package was GMT 4.5.7 (Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail") As it seems this behaviour also occurs on Debian I am currently on Ubuntu 14.04 32bit and 64bit Possible Workaround: Compile GMT yourself or downgrade to GMT 4.5.7 (Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail)
