Didn't want to install another 222 MB of software for konsole. Installed
guake instead (only 1 MB of extra disk space). Didn't find guake
impressive at first glance. Will try to configure it to make it like
gnome-terminal.

I have the same symptoms, but I'll add that when one goes to the overlay
view (where it's visible, as described in the report) and brings with
the mouse an open gnome-terminal to a new workspace all by its own, it
does get displayed. Then one may close it, and as a result the window
frame stays the
Strike that last comment: it's back, I saw it again today on resume.
gnome-shell appeared to restart and then this bug manifested.
