Thanks everyone for all your help. I was amazed at the speed you all responded, which was far beyond my expectations. I have reinstalled Ubuntu, and for some reason the issue has righted itself without any more input from me (thankfully!). I think it may have been just one of those quirky things

Thanks guys. You will have to pardon my lack of info on this issue (takes about 5 keystrokes for each letter...) I am only new to Linux (about four hours! yay!), so I'm learning as I go. Do I just add the parameter to the end of the kernel line in Grub? (15 mins. to type that!) :) Cheers E

I've had that happen before - it was a faulty keyboard. I'm not saying it is in this case, but it would be worth a try to plug in a different keyboard (if available). What type of keyboard is it? USB, PS/2? If you don't know what that means, is it a rectangular plug, or a circular plug (usually p

You can add the parameters on the kernel boot line, e.g. in grub edit the kernel boot line and add the param there. -- Typng is painfully slow and letters randomly repeat themselves. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124638 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs,
