Hi,
I have the same problem. As Leandro Del Teso, I have to turn DRI off to make
blender work. And I have to turn DRI on to make direct rendering work, if I
want to use makehuman properly. That is "funny".

Same for me. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY. In Feisty I had a
garbled UI but it was solved using the Blender mesa-static version. That
made me think that it was an incompatibility between my graphics card
and the ATI open driver or OpenGL.

Blender 2.44 works fine for me if I disable Desktop Effects. Have you
tried that to see if it makes any difference?
