KSCD now gets the audio cd via solid it seems, at least it does not show
any setting and doesn't try to use audiocd:/. Closing task.
As for amarok: it doesn't even do cd playback right now.

Cannot play audio CD in amar
As John Little also wrote, my Amarok's setting is pointing to
/dev/cdrom.
I've got the same error ("Impossible de lire le CD Audio")
both when starting from the KDE autoplay daemon or directly from Amarok.
I had to change it to /dev/cdrom1 for it to work.
I can also confirm that when re-insertin

I made this change (mine is /dev/scd0 on Kubuntu Hardy) and it makes
Amarok's "Engage | Play Audio CD" work, but the change doesn't stick
long; ejecting, loa
Changing the path in 'Configure Amarok..." did the trick for me too. It
was /dev/cdrom but should have been /dev/scd1 (which I found by right-
clicking on the CD's desktop icon then selecting 'properties'). Never
had to do this for kaffeine or for the Ubuntu player (whatever it is -
Gnome Player?).
Hi everybody, I wasn't able to play Audio CD from Amarok.
After some search around I found the path to my cdrom device was wrong.
In "Configure Amarok" menu, Engine, I have the Xine engine, and down in the Cd

This problem doesn't happen with kaffeine or smplayer so a fix should'nt
be too hard.

Thanks Harald,
I'm not sure why the configuration would be quite old? This is a brand
new PC with a fresh install of Gutsy final...
I tried the command line above which didn't give any errors or output.

For Amarok execute the following in konsole or gnome-terminal:
grep "media.audio_cd.device:.*" ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/xine-config
Then please paste the output here, it seems to be a very strange configuration
issue.
You also can try whether

Worth noting:
Changing amaroks default to:
/dav/hda
media:/hda
system:/media/hda
/hda
cdda:/
All still resulted in "Could not open audio cd" for me. Interestingly
when I run amarokapp from the CLI and try to open a CD (using /dev/hda
in amarok), the CLI returns repeatedly:
Amarok error: couldn't
Same here. VLC and Kaffeine play CD's fine. Amarok can't even pull a
list of tracks

Xine/Helix doesn't know anything about kioslaves, so passing audiocd:/
to Amarok is completely invalid for CD playing. My guess is that that's
the kscd problem too. Closing for Amarok, leaving for kdemultimedia --
no idea why it's passing audiocd:/ in.
