My friend has another model of Acer Laptop with Atheros 5005G WLAN a/b/g
Card.
It seems he used to have this often, and he suggested a *SIMPLE*
workaround for this.
Switch OFF and back ON the wireless button in the laptop and reboot.

They say, that it's the missing linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16 that causes
atheros to disappear.
I really don't have linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16 installed
Is this the lspci and '/proc/version' output with atheros running or
after atheros vanished?
I have a similar problem (atheros vanished) but for me it happens after
the upgrade to kernel 2.6.20-16-386. So if you have the problem in the
same kernel version we could work on this bug together.
