Sorry, I didn't install the image-extra package. After installing it the
behaviour booting with kernel 3.8.0.030800 is the same as those booting
from kernel 3.5.0.25 (screen flickering).

Following [#20] I installed linux-image-3.8.0-030800-generic.
Report so far:
- 3.5.0.17-generic (original in the CD) --> working
- 3.5.0.25-generic (current distribuited version) ---> screen flickering,
workaround screen to be closed and reopened
- 3.8.0-030800-generic --> X server crash after "ub
AS of #20 and #21, tested with kernel 3.8

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

I installed Ubuntu 12.10 x64 on a new Toshiba Satellite Laptop.
The iso on the CD worked fine, but from when I did the first package
