Hello all, sorry for disappearing. I was away in a part of the country
with no access to the internet at all. My keyboard functions correctly
now when Xkbvariant in consolesetup was changed to en_US. However, I
still get an error message on start up saying 'error loading keyboard
settings' but it d

It may be that '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' and '/etc/default/console-setup'
need to agree on the keyboard layout. Could you change both of them and
then restart and report back? Thanks again.

I would change your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' "XkbVariant" option to "en_US",
restart the X server and see if that resolves your issue. If it does
then also remove "intl" from XKBVariant="".

Is there a particular reason you are using 'Option
"XkbVariant""intl"' in your xorg.conf? Do you have or want an
international setup?

I sent a reply via email, apparently it hasn´t come through for some
reason. Here is what i said after I tried your suggestions:

it displays correct letters in virtual terminal but only after both letters

been entered. For example, if I type /that´s/only /that/ shows until the /s
Hello again, another error related to this, some letters do not display
at all if typed after ´. The ones I´ve noticed so far are the letters
b, d, f, g, h, j, k, m, p, q, t, v, w, and x. Typing these letters after
a single ´ also gives me a system beep.
Other letters display with an accent over t
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Does that same thing happen to you in a virtual terminal? You
can access one by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1. Thanks in advance.
