regarding this being fixed with an update. For future reference you can

same here. I just installed a Samsung CLX-2160 and I don't know if the
scanner driver is working properly. HOWEVER, when I start xsane as root
(as mentioned in a different report), it does *not* crash. Instead, it
reports "no scanner found". That may be a problem with the driver or

After upgrading to a newer version of samsung driver
(20070129124018750_UnifiedLinuxDriver.tar.gz) this problem doesn't
appear anymore and xsane is working fine.
