I also have a 0711:5100 device that didn't work with Lucid, and doesn't
work with Precise. If I have enough spare time and energy (almost
certainly no sooner than next week), I may try editing the file as
suggested in comment #16. I assume that comment is expecting the kernel
to be compiled from
The same problem I'm facing also in Ubuntu 12.04.1. When I connect the
StarTech.com's USB2VGAE2 adapter, I don't see any new display device in the
"Display" on the "Systems Settings". But during that time the "lsusb" command
returns the following:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID
