It looks like some of the code was taken from an older version of xmms2tray
(see patch that fixes notifications).
There are also other issues that probably stem from the same version-mix botch
(e.g. the launch gxmms2/abraca/etc. menu items app
After searching the net, I've decided to look at scripts (mainly
/etc/X11/Xsession) and:
If you select "Xclient", $HOME/.xsession gets executed (if exists).
Created one that says "jwm", works like a charm.
