Quite same problem on my HP Pavillion DV3550ev.
The problem comes with ubuntu 9.10 and not with 9.04.
If i disconnect the power cable from the computer the battery icon works good,
but if i restart the computer or i switch on without the power cable the icon
give to me:"the battery is fully charg

i'm trying to explain better:
acroread works fine in both situationuser and root.
as root acrobat starts in the correct way, but as user it gives to me
the error message:

today i have the same problem, but the strange thing is only from my

Dear All,
i have one HP DV 3550 and i have the same problem
pressing the key regarding the backlight brightness the luminosity is
not be affected.
So if you disconnect the power cable, le brightness remain at 100% and
doen't go to 60% as requested.
If anyone as one idea.
