AFAIK, "eject" has always worked (as per bug #504440) and still does.
This bug is meant to address the confusing UI issues, since the
underlying technical issues can't/won't be fixed (bug #504440).

Since istanbul saves the recorded file to /tmp (with a random filename)
after the recording session (even with sound and 3D turned-on), just go

On karmic 64-bit, I changed a line in /usr/bin/mousetrap from python2.5
to python and now it works for me.
This is how I did it from the command line:
$ sudo gedit /usr/bin/mousetrap
Search for "python" (there's only 1 occurrence). Replace "python2.5"
with "python" and you're good to do.
