Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python-setuptools
The following commands don't results in a module being successfully imported into python command-line: $ sudo easy_install gearman $ python >>> import gearman ImportError: No module named gearman The problem seems to be permissions related: changing the permissions of the installed modules location (/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages) and making it readable by everyone fixes it. The default permissions are readable to root only). The problem seems to be there for any module which installs to /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages (so far all the 5 I have tried). saidimu ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Mar 16 20:57:30 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) Package: python-setuptools 0.6c9-0ubuntu5 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-20.57-generic SourcePackage: python-setuptools Uname: Linux 2.6.31-20-generic x86_64 ** Affects: python-setuptools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- modules installed via python-setuptools cannot be imported from command-line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/540000 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
