I don't think so, I know people don't like comparissons, but Pidgin gives a
message about the status message changing too much (wich I don't think is
the best behavior, since it generates an intrusive pop up message). I think
empathy is just not handling whatever error generates this message

Yes it is easily reproducible.
All you need to do is:
1. Open RythmBox, and i guess any app that changes messenger status
2. Enable Rythmbox, "messenger status" plug-in
3. Open a conversation in empathy
4. Go to Rythmbox and skip music several times per second (I usua
Look like the bug only show if you skip the music many times for second.
In pidgim I get an error message telling me the nickname was changed too much
times.
I think the correct behavior would be just to show nothing.

When I am working with netbeans 6.1, sometimes when I activate code
completion using Control+Space shortcut the keyboard just stop working
at all within the application, works ok on other apps and closing and
restaring fix the problem until the next time I press control+space.
