For me, the problem comes up when launching firefox while running a
sound application (Audacious or last.fm player); in this case, i close
the sound appl and restart firefox, and it loads flash animations
again. I think it is a flash plugin problem against the sound system
of ubuntu.

Just some more reporting about this issue:
- The command "sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda" shows this line about APM:
Advanced power management level: unknown setting (0x80fe)
The 0xfe byte is the 254 value I set whith the -B command in
hexadecimal, but i do not understand the 0x80 byte and why it tells
The command hdparm -b 255 turn off completely APM.
This could last HD life by saving load cycles.
On the other hand, the HD temperature could get very HOT (51°c on my Inspiron),
also decreasing drive life.
I wonder if there is another better solution to this, for example using SMART
functions wi
