Binary package hint: usplash
When using the Ubuntu "Hardware Drivers" screen, it doesn't give any
progress feedback when installing nVidia graphics card drivers. After
choosing a driver version to install, clicking "Activate", entering my
root password, a progress dialog box
I found a workaround by changing the resolution in /etc/usplash.conf.
My native resolution of 1920x1200 was in the file by the installer, but
changing that to something smaller like 640x480 now displays the boot
splash image correctly. However, the issue remains that usplash can't
display a splash

The boot splash is jumbled garbage after installing a fresh install of
8.10. Worked perfectly when booting with the install CD and worked
perfectly on previous versions. Still garbled after installing all of
the patches the new machine required.
The machine is a Dell XPS M1
Same problem. I can connect to the internet fine, but I cannot change
any details about this interface using Network Tools. Tried using 2
different nic's. Running a fresh install of 8.04.
