i checked (just now) the system wide running process, after a clear boot
and pulseaudio only had "-D --log-target=syslog" for each of the instances.

thou, i use ALT + left mouse click to move around the dialogue.
(it is my father's computer and he was unable to use it, until i showed him
howto)
you should probably make sure (some how) that all system dialogues are fully
visible in 800x600 mode too, since their are MANY of those out t

after installing a new xfce4 on a fresh ubuntu (7.10) install i get tiny
fonts when i log into xfce4 (gnome is just fine!)
adding the following solved it:
edit /home/USER-ACCOUNT/.config/xfce4/Xft.xrdb
adding "Xft.dpi: 96" and saving it.
re-login into xfce4 shows fonts corre
