[Bug 1706013] Re: Ubiquity crashes after failing to install Grub to /target

2017-07-24 Thread n.st
Just ran the installer again: 1. The problem is reproducible. 2. The installer fails when trying to install grub-efi-amd64-signed. I guess the installer mis-detected the system as an EFI one (it's actually still using a normal BIOS) and therefore runs into trouble when it tries to install an EFI

[Bug 1706013] [NEW] Ubiquity crashes after failing to install Grub to /target

2017-07-24 Thread n.st
Public bug reported: Tried to install Xubuntu 16.04.2 to a USB harddisk from the desktop ISO. Installer reported an error about being unable to install Grub to /target (no problem there, I can do that myself), but then crashed completely (without any further error messages) and launched the erro

$ env | grep XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=i3 If I unset XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP before starting gnome-control-center, it lists all the settings panels, just as usual. That's probably also the reason why `sudo gnome-control-center` works, since the environment created by sudo doesn't have

[Bug 1353480] [NEW] Most settings panels suddenly missing from gnome-control-center

2014-08-06 Thread n.st
Public bug reported: When I launch it from my default (non-root) user account, the gnome-control-center is missing all settings panels, except "Printers" and "Software & Updates". Launching it with a commandline parameter to open a specific settings panel fails, too:   $ gnome-control-center di

[Bug 1280436] [NEW] Can't stop transfer when rsync was started with root privileges

2014-02-14 Thread n.st
Public bug reported: When I enable "Run as superuser" in the extra options, I cannot stop the transfer via the "Stop" button in the progress window (probably because as an unprivileged user I'm not allowed to send signals to root's processes). I'm using grsync 1.2.3 (compiled from source on 2013-

[Bug 1251926] [NEW] 40grub2 incorrectly extracts title from grub.cfg entries that contain more than two single quotes

2013-11-16 Thread n.st
Public bug reported: When linux-boot-prober (from os-prober 1.51ubuntu3 on Ubuntu 12.04.3) finds a grub.cfg containing a line like menuentry 'Gentoo GNU/Linux, with Linux x86_64-3.8.13-gentoo' --class gentoo --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-x86_64-3.8.13-gen
