my wireless connection manually.

Imaging disks via dd is a common, simple task that worked until recent
ubuntu releases that find filesystems by UUID. That has advantages, but
gets in the way of disk imaging.
The bug is that it's painful to make grub work in the old, disk-imaging

Thanks for attempting to reproduce the problem, Milan. When you tried
that, were you using Jaunty or Karmic? The dup I submitted (418337) was
for Jaunty.
Also, did you try to reproduce the symptom I reported in that bug, which
was different from the one reported here?

Changing your password
sudo apt-get remove xsplash solves this problem for me, although
presumably there's still a bug in the nvidia driver if xsplash can SEGV
it. (I'm on xubuntu btw).

After switching from the default VESA drivers to an accelerated driver,
the netbook-launcher works okay on the Mini 10 (inspiron 1010).
Also, my previous workaround was incorrect. The correct way to disable
netbook-launcher is Preferences... Switch Desktop Mode.

My Dell Mini 10 (inspiron 1010) is also affected by this bug. netbook-
launcher takes many seconds per action and eats 100% CPU. Switching to
the traditional ubuntu menu system fixes it (System... Preferences...
