for those who want to avoid Lightning entirely.

I just installed gtk3.24.9 in fedora but the issues remains.
No matter which apps, the issues aren't consistent but it's either a black
background or redraw issues (either the icon moved to the side for a new one or
by changing icon themes and the old icon still partially visible underneath) or

One more observation: using html:progress takes about 1/2 of the CPU
that xul:progressmeter takes when animating.
