Perhaps Ubuntu needs a triage nurse. I suspect if the right developer or group or group would fix this quickly. I did manage to get it working with various roll backs months ago but not consistently. I suspected that if the dvd mounted as crom it worked fine but if it mounted as crom0 it did not.
