Binary package hint: konqueror
Dolphin is now the default file manager in Kubuntu
Therefore, if you select a file management item in the welcome screen (such as
media or home) then Dolphin should start, and not Konqueror in file managment
mode.

Hi Alexander
Glad that I am not alone with this, I got no reaction at all up till now (also
not on posts on the feisty forum)
Like I said the problem does not occur when I boot with nosplash (it is
allright for me, I like looking at the system messages).
Like you, I can leave the X-session with

I am beginning to think that the problem is cause by the splashscreen inserted

Ending X session works normally (as opposed to what I reported above)
The problem occurs when (K)ubuntu tries to show a splash screen.

I have to add that also selecting "end session / log off user" from kde does
not work.
So the problem occurs when I try to exit the X session in the normal manner,
from the graphical environment.
I never have a problem with aborting the X-session using CTRL-ALT-BKSPC, it

Worrying how things like this seem to regress so easily just before the RC

Works for me now.

I managed to get the kubuntu herd 5 live cd to work on my Asus p4p800 deluxe.
Here is the solution that I entered in the wiki at this location:

You need to use F6 at the boot screen to add these command line options:

And 1. (bookmarks toolbar appearing even though
I switched it off) is NOT solved by upgrading to

I Upgraded immediately to 3.5.4 after installing
Dapper... After this upgrade I reported the bug.
Thanks again,
