I can confirm this.
You can also configure the dns and searchdomain manually in the client, if you
have no access to the vpn server.
After that, address resolution works vor names and ips again, even if the vpn
is only used for adresses in the vpn network.

only for resources in the vpn network in the routing options, everything

Yes, i can confirm the problem in kubuntu 9.10. Logout, hibernate and
sleep is offerd in the shutdown menue, reboot or shutdown is not
possible. I dont think it's a complete duplicate, because in #201569
