I've the problem with 7.10; I can't test it on Hardy as I don't have a
laser printer at home.
Seems that the issue concerns only wide characters, and it may
appear/disappear as I change font size. The glyphs are present, but they
are not _printed_. Maybe something is wrong with ghostscripting? or
Ubuntu 7.10

I had the problem with Kubuntu 6.06, now I have migrated to Ubuntu. In
Ubuntu 7.10 the bug doesn't seem to occur.
If there have been no replies for some time, I'd suggest marking the bug
as fixed.

misses some letters (e.g. bold russian 'M').
This does not happen if I change the font to one of Nimbus family (e.g.

I've located the problem just yesterday. The trouble begins when kontact
sends a message with Cyrillic letters in its name. The whole
MIME-encoded multipart message sent to the recipient contain something

OK, this is very similar to my own solution; I described it already in
the Launchpad.
Actually I posted many bugs until I realized that the problem was the
same. I marked duplicates and posted my solution in the other entries.

Actually, the problem seems to be somewhere in libx11-data or it's nearest
neighbours: according to /usr/share/X11/locale/locales.dir, the files for
Russian locale should be in ./ru_RU folder, however they actually located in
the en_US fol

I have made some investigations on the problem and discovered the following:
the text that appears in the konsole, is an cp1251 (windows) one, recoded in
dos-866, and then displayed in utf8.
So the solution would be to somehow prevent recoding while piping the
backend output, and recode with the
