some note of my side.
Problem started when i tried to connect to a Samba4 machine (ubuntu 14.04.1)
from a 12.04. I had the password loop on the 14.04. to try and reach the 12.04
(samba 3.6.3-2).
So I thought, I update the 12.04 with samba4. Now I have the password loop on
that machine aswell.
Encountered the same problem on a Lenovo B590. Fresh install of Ubuntu
14.04.1 besides a preinstalled windows 8.0 machine. Disabling the secure
boot "solved" the problem.

Same problem on an old toshiba i fixed.
I keymapped the x to the win key. And only in Firefox 24.0 the key I assigned
doesnot work.

Made a symlink to a folder with 1's of small files in the ubuntuone folder.
Now ubuntuone doesn want to connect at all. See the red cross. Installing,
reinstalling in synaptic didnot solve my problem.
