Thanks for the assistance.
I created a new profile called test. This profile correctly opened .pdf
and .doc files, but still wants to open .mp3 files with movie player
despite the fact that in edit-->preferences-->applications mp3 files
are meant to be opened with VLC.

Hi Micah,
I have tried to manually set the correct appications for firefox to use
to open programs by going edit --> preferences --> applications.
Mp3s open in movie player. Despite changing the settings to "ask me" it
keeps opening them in movie player. I will try to restart the computer

this has been around a while.

When iperf is ran as an normal user, and you tell it to listen on a
privileged port (anything below 1024), it should die when the bind
fails. Instead, it acts as if its still listening on the port you
specified.
