The only thing that has been made clear is that the bug owner believes
that a fix has been released, but this is not the case.
This fix works for some users.

work". Support for the jMicron controller was recently added to the
Edgy builds. A number of users have reported success with that fix, but
a number of other users h
Perhaps it would be helpful if the bug owner could just post a blurb and
iso URL (so that we are all trying the image we should be) when it's
confirmed that a properly-made iso is created that incorporates this
fix.
(To confirm, no, no change with the 10/05 image for me).

I'd agree with ph8- it would be helpful to know which images are
supposed to work.
Since we've had several people use the Ubuntu 20060928 daily alternate
image, and report successes (barring the seperate ICH8 issue)... and
several other people using the same image, and instead reporting a
differen
Just to quickly respond to Ante here, IDE devices, connected to the IDE
part of Jmicron controller, definitely still don't work- at least for me
and many other people here. But, it does now seem to work for some
people, at least.

I also tried the 20060928 daily (alternate, 64-bit) image, and I too
have the same result that Joel Ebel had. The Dapper install fails in
the way described in the first post. I also tried uplugging the SATA
drive and just booted with the pair of PATA optical drives; no change.
