I am almost positive this is a hardware specific driver problem.
I installed stock ubuntu 7.04 on a Dell Latitude D600 with a "ATI
Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000]" graphics card and a
1400x1050 screen. The configured driver was "ati", I am currently using
"radeon"

After a lot of screwing around and digging through my old hard drive for the
old Xorg.0.log, I finally may have found what my work around is
I disabled (commented out) the loading of the dri extension. It would
seem that my previous dual headed configuration disabled that extension
from comm
I found I had a copy of my xorg.conf from when I was running FC5.
(backups are a wonderous thing).
I noticed that the most likely difference was in the device section:
Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL
9000]"
# Driver "ati
I am guessing someone will want to see my xorg.conf.

I recently reloaded my machine after running FC5 for quite some time. I
almost immediately ran into a issue with both gnome terminal that I had
not seen before. I doubt it is strictly a problem with that app, rather
