I've been using orca now for a couple of years and have made cd's of all
the keyboard shortcut commands to learn them (talking book type of lessons).

hardware compatible to Linux (even though the install software CD isn't)

all the Gstreamer stuff from Synaptic...no change in sound til now...had
to "force quit" the browser when it locked up, then reopened it

After adding all the gstreamer stuff now I have no sound at all. also
added a lot of sound mixer thinking 1 would work out of all of them. no
luck and the so called streaming video is choppy moving like frame by
frame...darnit!

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. My soundcard doesn't work all the time.
It works intermittedly, when it wants to I guess. I have a SoundBlaster 5.1

Thank you for responding Wolfger. I did a typo, the soundcard is the
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 digital. It is recognized in the "hardware"
under system.
The sound is determined at bootup time. If there is sound at bootup,
there will be sound throughout the time the computer is on and running.
