Same for me. Karmic, all updates, copy a single file (ca. 10GB) from
FAT32, NTFS, ext3 to ext3. Both processors are gone and the system is
barely usable.

It gets worse and worse:
When I start firefox from the command line, it starts a thing called "Namoroka".
the process itself is called "/usr/lib/firefox-3.6.2pre/firefox-bin" but the
window name is different.
(anyhow, why is it a 3.6.2_pre_ firefox. I never wanted that!)

synasptic says, firefox is still installed, but it is not in the application
list nor is it found by "run application" whe typing it in manually.
