I just installed hdparm v9.37 from source. I set the S option to 1 (5
seconds) and it worked. But 20 seconds later the disk spun up again (I
did not access it). So I tried the Ubuntu version of hdparm with -S set

checked because it wasn't properly unmounted. SMART values are
inconspicuous.

was a table but that's an information not included in this PDF file

Can anybody try to install a vanilla kernel since I still fail to
compile it? Then one can file a bug against the vanilla kernel as the

This bug is quite old, I'm running Gutsy and gkrellm 2.2.10-2ubuntu1 by
now and I can't remember when the problem occured for the last time. I

Looks a lot like 132039. I don't know if it's exactly the same. I
assumed that the firewall isn't working. But from 132039 I understand
that it might be just firestarter that isn't working but the firewall is
? I don't quite understand. But because I assumed the firewall isn't
working, I classified
Before you close it, JFTR: I had a similar problem (GRUB error) with
Feisty. The solution was to reinstall the boot manager in the MBR.
