System: Ubuntu 13.04 on Sandy Bridge x64 Dell laptop.
The program "startup disk creator" failed to create a working USB stick device.
Boot error: "Operating System Not Found". After
sudo dd if=/dev/sdX1 of=~/usb-stick.img bs=10M
sudo dd of=/dev/sdX if=~/usb-stick.img bs=10M
There is no proxy set. I installed Tor sometime ago, maybe this helps?
Tor is only for firefox in use.

I installed Tor at this time. Maybe this caused the problem. There is no output
when I run "env|grep _proxy" in the terminal.
Same with echo $http_proxy.
Now the same error occurs today:

I confirm this bug. After deleting 40 GB of small files I have 30 and more
entries. Normaly I use an nfs disk, but not now. After restarting everything is
ok.
I use Intrepid, too.
