Ok,that makes sense. I reinstalled an older version of VirtualBox and
recreated the Ubuntu install and it works as expected now.
Having said that, I am testing Parallels as I am hoping to waste less
time in the future (crosses fingers, toes, whatever). I hate to feed

youtube videos are not playing at the right speed and are playing fast/choppy.
I installed the "restricted" codecs, but that has not helped.
Really mysterious since there can't be a small number of people running
the same setup as this.

Confirmed on 14.10 Gnome Classic.
"Brightness & Lock" does not change DPMS settings and monitor does not go to
standby. When i set dpms manually with "xset dpms 300 0 0" the settings are
reset to 0 after suspend/wakeup.

In the keyboard layout view i can see the Super key blink when i press it.

I have the same problem using opera/firefox, some flash objects show Arabic
characters separated not well shaped!
I believe it is an ubuntu problem as it works fine under windows using the
same firefox/opera
