As seen in the attached screenshot, the Ubuntu partition has this text:
"Ubuntu
/dev/sda (ext4)
8.6 GB"
Why the "/dev/sda (ext4)"? It is not needed and can cause confusion for the
average user.

As seen in the attached screenshot, the simple partitionning screen
offers you what drive you want to use. But in my case (and a lot of
people, I suppose), there is only one disk! Why not simply say "Ubuntu
will be installed in given drive" or ev

This is because update-manager actually performs an commit operation,
not an upgrade one, to allow selection of individual packages to be
upgraded. However, I don't know if software-center would handle this
even if update-manager was fixed, so leaving both tasks open.
