I have almost the same setup (ubuntu instead of kubuntu) and similar
problems.
I connected two TFTs (Dell 20", 1600x1200) to the docking station and
booted up the notebook. GRUB and the splash screen show up correctly on
the primary display which is connected to the DVI port of the docking
station
I can confirm that. I'm using a HP NX7000 Notebook with an ATI Mobility
Radeon 9000 that should normally run in 1680x1050. If I try to activate
the fglrx driver in xorg.conf, I get the "no screens found" error as
reported above. If I switch back from "fglrx" to "ati" as driver,
everything works.

I have the same problem with my 7.04 install from the alternate install
ISO. Using the console is affectively impossible as those error messages
keep coming rather fast.
