I have almost the same setup (ubuntu instead of kubuntu) and similar problems.
I connected two TFTs (Dell 20", 1600x1200) to the docking station and booted up the notebook. GRUB and the splash screen show up correctly on the primary display which is connected to the DVI port of the docking station. The graphical login appears on the secondary display which is connected to the VGA port of the docking station, everything is OK so far. After logging in I used the NVidia settings panel in order to enable the second screen (the one connected to the DVI port) using "twinview" and configure it to be left of the secondary display. I choose "apply" and I get garbled output on both displays. Sometimes I can restart the X server now, but quite often it simply switches to a completely black screen on which I only have the mouse cursor. At this point, keyboard input is ignored completely, so I have to turn the power off in order to restart the computer. An interesting detail: If I just activate the primary display but don't configure it to be on left (it's on the right of the secondary display per default), everything works in most cases even though I get the problem as described above _sometimes_. I really couldn't find any way to reproduce the problem, it's unnervingly non-deterministic. One time I got the interesting effect that everything looked fine (except the displays being swapped because I didn't move the primary display to the left) but mouse klicks and keyboard events were ignored completely. I had a mouse cursor I could move around, but clicking didn't have any effect. -- Dell Precision M65 Docking fails, screen warped https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/97051 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
