we use some themes like elementary, some old gnome icons, such as zoom
in, zoom out, etc, don't match the theme.

I installed Lucid Kubuntu, I set automatically login. But kdm still pop

I have a very similar issue. I double clicked the deb package, and clicked
install. I entered the correct password to give it root privilege.
1. If all the dependencies are satisfied, it will fail to install the package.
It says : "dpkg: unable to read filedescriptor flags for : Bad file desc

I'm using archlinux (2.26.31rc6+intel driver 2.8) now. It has the same problem
on smplayer as karmic does. however, smplayer works perfect again after
switching audio driver to oss from alsa(default).
I believe that this method will also work for Karmic.

I have a very similar issue affect me too.
The notify-osd works fine (volume, network, IM, etc ) except for brightness~
When I am changing the brightness the original gnome notification show up
instead.
I didn't have this problem when I was testing on Karmic Alpha3 and Jaunty.

looks like is locked, you can't even try to change anything)

I just downloaded the daily live(Kubuntu), 9th April, cuz Martin said it
works better on his machine. the animation is still really slow. so, the
graphic performance is not merely happen in using compiz. it's also
really slow in Kwin. for my GM945, I still have this annoying problem.

actually, I tried to compile the newest intel driver(2.6.99)(from the intel
linux official website) on the Jaunty Beta. it didn't work at all. Then I tried
to compile the 2.5.99 version. But that didn't work either. I was trying to
compile the 2.4.XX. But it seemed that I needed to downgrade som
it still happens in Alpha6. for my situation, the cpu usage is normal,
just the compiz desktop effect is very slow.
