Yes, it is fixed for me (iBook G3 600 Mhz) too.
I ran an update which installed kernel 3.16.0-22.29-powerpc-smp. I didn't test
the iso yet.

I got the same message when I used the utopic-desktop installation DVD
(20140906). And also when I upgraded my freshly installed Lubuntu 14.04.1 to
14.10.
