For a quick fix: I have downloaded the Fedora RPM from here:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/development/16/i386/os/Packages/krename-4.0.7-2.fc16.i686.rpm
and converted it to DEB with alien. Seems to work fine. Please find it attached
in case you want it.

I confirm it in OO.o 2.3.0 under Kubuntu Gutsy.
I have downloaded the original OO.o RPMs, converted them to DEBs with
alien, and installed them (after uninstalling the Ubuntu version). The
problem is gone, so the Ubuntu packages are definitely the cause.
