Hey, sorry. Backing up took less time than I thought. So I'm half way through
reinstall. Also sort for ranting. Just frustratesd. Already been through 3 days
of this for my sta driver. Gag.
When I reinstall I'll try additional drivers for fglrx. When that doesn't work
I'll try your ppa. After th

back to the intel
Ok, low graphics came up, but when i chose reconfigure it didnt change

Hmm, just seems a bit wasteful, as there are at least two other bugs
that describe this problem, and this one is already open, is the reason
behind this that reporting a bug includes reports from my laptop, which
will change when the ppa is removed?
Or i guess because everyones set up is a little
Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch) , i removed that repository, didnt
realise it was added, and dont recall why, so can i continue with this
troubleshooting?

Rebooted, back at low graphics warning, i guess when i choose
reconfigure it undoes the aticonfig initial and switches off the driver,
i chose continue in low graphics for one session, it took me to cli, so
i just reconfigured again. Using generic whatevers, not the backed up
settings

It is a bug, i believe- duplicate of 1068661, or at least I think the
other bug will also happen, I tried to upgrade to the fglrx drivers
because of this- there is some serious overheating too. I ended up using
my intel 3000 instead, Now I haven't the foggies idea how to return, and
the fglrx still
Sorry if im no professional at this by the way, I mean that this is
something probably experienced by a lot of folks over at that bug...

I have an hp dm4, with radeon hd 7470, and intel 3000, I get the same symptoms,
overheating, fan always on, and am unable to install amd drivers, I get the
same low graphics 'mode/ no unity problem'. My suggestion is to double check
that your card is actually supported by gh the 12,11 beta drive
As far as I've seen the AMD drivers(up to 12.9 beta) don't support the
most recent kernels
